Personally the music I most cherish there was nothing to even record with yet has survived hundreds of years and is performed internationally. These would be:

Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach

As far as within the last two centuries....

Beatles, Ani DiFranco, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Brett Dennen and Immortal Technique.
